When I start a scan cpu goes to 100% and mouse won’t work.
This only happens with avast.
Open the Scan that you are using and go into Settings. Go to Performance and lower the Performance settings if they either two or three bars. See if that helps.
It’s on two bars.
-
Try lowering it to one bar
-
Also unclick the two cache boxes
-
Go to Sensitivity and lower the heuristics and make sure that scan whole files is not checked.
-
You also could try repairing Avast through Windows Programs add/delete (uninstall). When you click on uninstall it should give you the option to Repair or Uninstall, click on Repair.

Do you have any other Realtime anti Malware programs running?
I’ve done just about everything. No, I don’t have any other programs running.
This only happens with avast. I’ve tried two other AVs, separately of course, and they run fine.
I need a working AV, so I’m going to try something else.
Thanks for the suggestions. It’s just a mystery why this is only specific to avast.
