I get warnings on every message that comes in with an empty subject line.
How can I turn off this criterion?
Also, is there a way to tell Avast! to automatically move questionable items to a folder of my choice so that I can review all at once later (for instance so that those found in the middle of the night won’t halt processing waiting for a reply) ?

Left click the ‘a’ blue icon > Choose the provider Internet Mail > Customize > Heuristics (settings)
Heuristic check of emails is performed only when classic virus scan doesn’t find a virus. Options for silent mode:
- Let it be delivered: it means OK, continue, nothing is done.
- Delete/Deny access: for incoming message the email is destroyed (replaced with avast! template with some info). For outgoing message, sending of email is blocked.
- Mark it in subject field: in subject of email is added prefix “[avast! - SUSPICIOUS]”
In Home version you can only use Silent Mode:
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon.
It will start On-access protection
Click on Internet Mail and then on Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and select Silent Mode and the default answer No. This will send the file (email) to Chest.
Do the same for the and Outlook/Exchange plugin.
The answer Yes in Silent Mode keeps the virus in the file or into the message (attach) and continue the scanning. You can’t configure ‘delete the infected file’ in the Home version.
You can do the same for Standard Shield provider, but it won’t be a good idea…
Silent mode in the case of the WebShield provider simply means that avast will keep pressing the “Abort connection” button for hte user automatically.
