When trying to scan a download with avast by right clicking and then scan with avast.the search engine notifys me it has kicked in then it disappears.is this normal?
Yes, this is normal. Avast will let you know if anything is found; otherwise, will disappear quietly. If you want confirmation that nothing has been detected, this is an option in “program settings.” Right-click tray icon (a-ball) > Program Settings… > Common > tick “Show results of Explorer Extension”
