I just installed Avast home version. How do I set it up to scan all email?

XP or NT based OS the email scanning integration should be automatic and transparent.

You will need to run the Mail Protection Wizard, Start → Programs → avast! Antivirus → Mail Protection Wizard. I’m surprised that it didn’t run as a part of the install process, it did for me when I used win98se.

For some reason it did not run when I installed the first time. I uninstalled it and it ran then.
