I have my quick scan scheduled for Monday 0900 and full scan for Tuesday 0900. All worked well until last week when quick scan did not commence but full scan did and was immediately followed by quick scan. I obviously have done something but do not know how to fix this little problem.
Sorry if the question is silly, but is your computer awake at that time? I mean, on Monday.
No question is silly if you do not know the answer. I have the computer set to wakeup to scan. Strange that yesterday the full scan worked and was not followed by the quick. I have now rescheduled the quick to another day and will await the results.
Hmmm… Maybe Windows Energy settings are just blocking it somehow… Which is your Windows? What are the awake settings (Control Panel > Energy)?
In all honesty I would just stick to one scan a week and that would be the Quick one.
With a resident on-access antivirus like avast, the need for frequent on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part the on-demand scan is going to be scanning files that would be otherwise be dormant or inert. If they were active files then the on-access file system shield would be scanning them before being created, modified, opened or executed.
I have avast set to do a scheduled weekly Quick scan, set at a time and day that I know the computer will be on. If for some reason my system wasn’t on, no big deal I will catch up on the next scheduled scan.
