i am having trouble trying to scan"D".i had no problems before, now every time i select it nothing happens.any help would be great thanks.
Welcome to the forum kittykat,
we need more info,
your operating system and any updates to it, if you have 1 hard-drive partitioned into 2 or more. Or 2 hard-drives, what anti-virus solution you are using now and if you have used others before installing avast!
What troubles? Do you receive an error message? Which one?
thank you for replying and for the welcome.i am running window’s 98 and only using the avast anti virus.i have only 1 hard drive.it was working fine all along and suddenly stopped scanning d,however it will still scan c.i tried uninstalling it and then re-installing .that did not fix the problem.i have a firewall installed .sygate personal firewall.i am not receiving any error messages when this happens.once again i would appreciate any help u could offer.thanks.
Have you run a scandisk on D: to see if there are any problems with it?
kittykat,
with refernce to Eddy’s reply, if you “right click My Computer” is drive D: still still shown?
hi all thanks again for your help.d was still under my computer so i tired yo scan it that way and an error message came up saying “device is not ready”.does anyone know how i can correct this?thanks again.
Start with running checkdisk. It looks like the FAT on the D partition is damaged.
Just a thought, can you reboot into dos mode and see if you can access D: that way?
Sorry, I’m assuming knowledge of dos commands. Do you know them?
@ Eddy,
as always, faster to the point and better reply!
hi again.i will try running a check disc and see what happens.as for dos commands i have no idea.i will let u know how the check disc goes.i’m new at this and it’s nice to know u guys r there to help.thanks wild nad eddy. :-*
Probably a stupid question, but still: what exactly is the D: partition? Isn’t it some kind of removable device (not present at the time of scanning)?
