"????" scans

I have several scans all named “???” in my copy of Avast Free. They all seem to be the same scan from the ui. I found what I would guess are the related registry entries, but I am not able to delete them even when the avast service is stopped. The only error message that regedit will give me is “Unable to delete all specified values.” Is there a way to get rid of them?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Try a repair…Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click “avast”>click “repair”>reboot :slight_smile:

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

I was able to remove the scans without re-installing or rebooting by using the factory reset button in settings → troubleshooting to reset custom scans. Issue resolved.
