Ok i have been told that it’s possible to set up a weekly scan from the schedule task tools from the start page, but was told i would only be able to use the fast scan, i would like to set up the standard scan from avast is this possible.
If you are using the Home edition (the free one) then you can set up a weekly scan using Windows scheduled tasks but you then need to use ashquick.exe as the scanning program. By default that will perform a thorough scan including archives. You can, by very careful use of the on-demand exclusions list significantly reduce the run time (mine runs in about 32 minutes for my 5 disk system. The time will vary depending on what data you have and what can safely be excluded.
If you want to schedule an on-demand Quick scan then you will need the Pro version of avast.
May I ask what on-demand exclusions you are using ? I’m switching from Norton and full scans there take 2+ hours on my
pc. I usually schedule it and leave it on overnight running after I go to bed.
