I had Seagate drives in the past and never had one fail. This new computer has 2 HDDs … Seagate (master) and Maxtor (slave).
has this company aquiring thing been a long time thing or have i noticed it just started a lot? :o

This has been going on since like forever…But yes it seems to be happening alot lately i have to agree.
i got two SATA 250GB WDs RaidEdition 2 with 16MB cache and i’m quite happy with theirs performance levels …
it’s nearly double against older generation of WD drives and with 50% lower power usage / drive
All 3 of the PC’s I have owned had Seagate hard drives. Never a problem with a Seagate ftive.
This last one I built has one Seagate and one Maxtor. After almost 5 years, no problems with either drives. (knock on wood)
