SeaMonkey 2.40 False Positive

Another Avast! False Positive! >:(

I scanned the installer and Avast! claimed it was fine. However, it wouldn’t let me run it.

I tried several times, then disabled Avast! It installed perfectly. I re-enabled Avast! and it after a Smart Scan found nothing everything is fine.

This is a false positive. I know many here will try and convince me otherwise, but it is. It’s SeaMonkey; not malware!

Just tested it.
Downloaded and installed it without any problem.

  • All shields enabled
  • Hardened mode set to aggressive
  • PUP detection enabled
  • Deepscreen enabled

I scanned again with a Quick Scan, and everything is fine. I’ve uploaded the installer to VirusTotal and it is queued for scanning. I have no idea why Avast! won’t run the installer.

I’ve just scanned the SeaMonkey folder with Avast! and it found nothing, again.

Check the avast log files.
One of them may have information on why it doesn’t let it install on your system.

I can’t find anything. I have submitted the false positive to Avast! from the Avast! GUI in Virus Chest. That f/p:

PE:Malware.Techsnab!6.2585 [F]

detected by ‘Rising’ is probably responsible for this.

Hello

I Confirmed this False Positive was fixed yesterday.

As information :

I scanned the installer and Avast! claimed it was fine. However, it wouldn't let me run it.
Some things are only detected when a application is executed.

OK, thanks.

You’re welcome
