NG was renamed to “secure virtual machines” in setup. I hope it’ll be changed to something else, because it’s so vague – something like “Enhanced DeepScreen” would be better.
Is there any point in installing this on an older PC without HW virtualization?
HW virt. is not needed on some OSes (32-bit Vista - Win7 OSes, I guess), that’s why it was offered in setup (and there’s the checkbox in Troubleshooting page)
I too think that the name “secure virtual machines” is not just vague, but very misleading. You almost get the idea that it is only for securing virtual machines.
Not that this will effect me greatly on my XP Pro nor my win7 netbook as it hasn’t got the resources/grunt, it couldn’t pull the skin of a rice pudding.
I my case it was installed during a program update through the GUI. The only way I knew about it was
something new visible in the task manager, and by checking program and feature s as I mentioned before.
The PC is an old Dell Dimension, Pentium IV 2.8 GHz., Windows 7. No HW virtual assist in the CPU/BIOS.
