security alert

my computer starts with a “security alert” in the taskbar- alerting of malware in my computer. :click this baloon message appears every minute!! when i click the baloon i go to the “avermin” site advising me to buy their software!!
Avast does not detect this malware?? But ‘avermin’ software does. How do i remove this malware?

Hi csachdev - welcome to the forum.

If its AntiVermins this is a rogue program that gives false alerts to get to you to purchase the program.

You should be able to remove it with Rogue Remover which you can download free here

EDIT: Just to clarify, I’m suggesting you use Rogue Remover to remove AntiVermins. I doubt any malware AntiVermins reports is actually present on your computer.

Seems doesn’t… as it’s not being detected by avast… :-[

Curiously, Tech is their a list of these rogue programs? I have ran across a few of these but hastily did not document them.

Besides the link given, there is a list of sorts for the rogue remover tool at http://www.malwarebytes.org/rogueremover_history.php, unfortunately the list isn’t collated but spread out amongst the version history detection added.
