Security check

I’ve discovered the site security.symantec.com to check my security.

I’ve run the test “Security scan” and the result is the following :

Antivirus Product Check
Description : checks for a current version of a commonly-used virus protection product.
Analysis : WARNING ! No known virus protection software found. This means your computer and data are vulnerable to virus attacks.
Recommandations : Install the latest version of a commonly-used virus protection product.

Can someone explain me this result ? Is there some special settings in avast! home ?

This one is a classic.
Please try e.g. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=5035.0

What it means is they are touting for business, by not recognising other companies anti-virus products.

You pass all the various test, yet it says you arn’t protected, what a joke - how is it possible to pass these without protection?

Let me say it very simple: you have been fooled by Symantec.

Symantec developped the software that is checking your security settings. Off course, from a marketing point of view, it would be foolish of them that they say your system is OK even without symantec products!
(in that case nobody would want symantec anymore)

To make a long story short: If you do not use Symantec software,…you will never get all green! :d
And since that Symantec has a BIG name many people believe it that they are unsafe and buy their product.

Thank you for all your answers.

I’ve suppressed NAV for a long time when I’ve discovered Avast ( I’ve never had any problem ).

When I have a question, I always have an answer on the forum.
