I was looking at the properties of the Avast directories in C:\Program Files and looked at the Security setting and saw that the permissions were set up on the Program Files\Avast Software and Program Files\Avast Software\Avast as in the attached pictures. My curiosity and paranoia made me want to ask if others see the same for their folders. I’m not looking to change anything. Quite the contrary, actually. I want to make sure I actually didn’t somehow change any settings, even though I would have to click change permissions, make changes, then hit apply or Ok which I didn’t do and instead hit Cancel on my way out. But, like I said: paranoia. I also found it somewhat interesting that ‘Administrators’ is the owner of the folder as opposed to SYSTEM or TrustedInstaller.
If you’re curious to check, navigate to C:\Program Files, right click on the Avast Software folder and click Properties. Go to the Security tab, then click Advanced. They should show up there. You can do the same thing for the Avast subfolder within Avast Software. The subfolders and files in the Avast Software\Avast folder all appear to inherit the ‘Avast’ folder’s permissions, though I didn’t check every single file or folder. The blacked out portions of my images are just my computer name. The cutoff portion under the Applies To column reads “This folder, subfolders and files.”
