Hi,
When I try to receive mails with Outlook, I get the message “send/receive error”. But if I stop Avast, I can receive mails. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jean-Louis
Same here…Using SSL encryption on port 995 receive and port 465 to send.
Same here. Cannot receive emails since update unless I stop Avast. Great, buy anti virus software and have to stop it when it is needed the most!!!
I have had the same problem since 9/9/2022. Rather than completely turn off Avast I found that I could receive emails again when I unticked “Scan inbound emails (pop3,IMAP 4)” in Mail Shield. Go to Settings, Protection, Core Shields, Configure Shield Settings, Mail Shield.
Subsequently found that my outgoing emails were also being blocked. Solved this by also unticking “Scan outbound emails (SMTP)”.
Thanks Stephen. I have a french version of Avast and I don’t know how I can modify the Mail Shield.

hi,

I’ve had the same problem since last week. It took me 15-20 hours to discover that the newest update to Avast was causing the problem and that I had to turn off the Mail Shield scan for incoming and outgoing mail so that I could send and receive mail again. I also discovered that the same problem occurred back in 2015 and 2017, so it appears that a software developer screwed something up before the last update was released. I was using Windows Live Mail 2011, but now I’m using Windows Live Mail 2012 because I reinstalled the program several times in an attempt to resolve this problem, which turned out to be a total waste of time.
Is there a fix for this problem yet? I don’t see any replies from Avast ?
Apparently, a new version of Avast (22.9.6034) fixes this problem.

“Avast Evangelist” Chris solved my Outlook receive problem, although my problem occurred after the latest Avast update: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=321154.0
He suggested downloading the “beta version.” (Since the thread starter posted on Sept. 9, before the Avast update, perhaps there are other issues involved.)
Thanks, but it’s not me , it’s avast team
