I have 50+ clients installed that were managed from a server that crashed. I have installed the management server on a different machine but it appears that the clients are all looking for the old server netbios name. Is there a way I can get the new server to seen all the previous installs (discovery didn’t find them). Is it possible to push out a new install from th new server that will update the client installs so they see the new server? Any help is appreciated…
It is a long time I migrated from one server to another.
Try to look on item ServerAddress in avast4.ini on Netclient computer. I suppose there must be old server’s IP address. But you cannot simply copy changed avast4.ini to all netclients because of unique InstallGUID some rows bellow. And editing 50+ times avast4.ini also is not a way for lazy admins…
Maybe there should be way via temporally IP address change…? It depends on your infrastructure, which you did not describe
Or install temporally AMS server with the same name and IP address as crashed AMS (clean crashed server from ADU&C before it), install ADNM and when all clients will connect temporally AMS, you can change configuration - item AMS address in communication section at your computer catalog in ADNM console.
Other option is use the aswChAms command from the avast! directory in every netclient.
aswChAms
I think from now on when I have a question, Ill hit the preview button and wait another 30 minutes. It seems like every time after I post, I find exactly what I need.
The ftp_rename function doesnt just rename files, it can rename directories, which in turn can move them on the remote server.
