Service stopped - Code 0x3

Hi,

I’m having problems running Avast. It’s says that the service has stopped and that it is in a invalid status. I can’t activate the “Fix” button - nothing happens?! I tried rebooting several times and nothing helps? I can’t update the latest program version or anything…and if I try to uninstall the program in order to install the newest version I get the following message:

“The stub cannot run installer/updater executable c:\program files\avast software\avast\setup\sfx\avast.setup (code 0x3)”

I have tried doing everything told from this tread: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=168069.0 because it seems to be the same problem?

However it does not fix the problem for me.

Get that tool.
Boot in safe mode and run it.
See if that removes avast.

If so,
download the offline version for the avast version you want to install > https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=189836.0

If not,
let us know what happens/happened.

I have tried booting in safe mode and running that tool. But same error messages appears, so I’m not able to remove avast?

Get that tool, run it and have it create two log files (FRST.txt and Addition.txt)
