services.exe is hogging my cpu.

Any ideas? I think something came in alongside a DriverCure download, but not certain.
Avast has not seen the culprit.

If so what happens in your commuter since the incident ?

Back in late October, I downloaded Driver Cure onto a clean, fast xp install made six months before. Since that download, I get the hard drive running constantly, F/Fox begins to open after 15-20sec delay, Audacity (music recording s/w) starts slowly, the tracking stops and starts, all because the cpu is pegged. Services.exe bounces cpu use from 10% to 100% and back. First thing I did, I ditched DriverCure, but the deed was already done. Avast seemed oblivious to anything being wrong. I just went ahead and started using another computer, but all my stuff is on this one; Ableton, Steinberg, and ALL my recordings, files.

Two days ago, I downloaded S&D Rescue, which has done well for me in the past. It indicated the presence of trojans, and 50-60 pieces of malware. When I cleared them away, no browser would open, so I re-installed FF. Worked for a day, maybe. Things are back to dragging along, disk clicking awaying on its own. Avast is deaf, dumb, and blind to the whole affair.

Drive Cure is a bogus application.

ParetoLogic is a scam outfit.
