setifaceupdatepackages error 0x00000002

Hello,
I had saw this error after an Xp update. I don’t understand why this thing appear after…I had try lot off ideas find on this forum or on other areas, and it seem that today this problem is solved. In the first time I had modify the avast4.ini [inetwd] section with “AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds=60” and later I had modified the default update intervall in the tab general/update/ setting to “240” to “120”…Now I think that all is OK. Now red banner appears since…

Well the windows error 0x00000002 is just ‘2’ which is "The system cannot find the file specified. "

So there would appear to be a problem with your installation, which according to you you believe everything is OK. Changing the default interval shouldn’t change the 0x00000002 error and it may be no more than co-incidence. If you were regularly getting Red update alerts (that didn’t mention the 0x00000002 error), that may well have been resolved by adjusting the delay.

If you get the ‘setifaceupdatepackages error 0x00000002’ again, try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

Which is the path you’ve installed avast?
Does this occur now after each login or it just occurred once?
After Windows updates (day after patch Tuesday), the avast services could be difficult to load as Windows Updates take all the computer resources looking for updates…

Hello,

I had modified these parameters i-e intervall delay and inetwd connection retry…I had obtain less (only one during the windows session) during I am using Pinnacle Studio 9. Otherwise no red alerts coming…Before I had met for each change of application: when I open the IE or Firefox or some others application. When windows XP start, all updates are made without any problem. The red alert appears after…

Maybe the computer is too stressed at that time.
For further helping you we need that you post the last 100-150 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log

Hello,

Sorry for my english…After the reply of DavidR, I tried the repair process in the add/remove program function. After have used this process, since 2 days, I have not any red alert and my event log is clean… Before this, I had uninstall and reinstall avast4.7…no change. Now all is ok…Why ? I don’t know.

Thank you.

No problem, glad we could help.

It does seem strange that an uninstall and reinstall didn’t resolve it, when a repair did, most strange, computers.

Thanks for the feedback and a belated welcome to the forums.
