I got a problem with the avast settings password as it seems. I just installed and registered it a few days ago and today needed to deactivate it for some minutes. It asked me a password I do not know. tried the account PW but did not work. I have no clue what to enter. And deinstallation seems not to be an option neither, since it also requires that password. What can I do?

Ask your admin. 
Forgotten password or one that you haven’t set, can only be resolved by a clean reinstall.
You can uninstall using the uninstall utility as that is run from safe mode when avast isn’t running. You don’t say what avast version you are using, this is related to reinstalling the free version.
Download the latest version of avast, 9.0.2021 http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn’t save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.
- Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, avast_clear.exe http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_clear.exe and save it to your HDD.

- Now uninstall avast! - using add remove programs/Programs & Features, if you can’t do that (as appears to be the case) start from the next step, reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility, it will request it be run from safe mode (and will handle the boot into safe mode), once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest avast version, reboot.
Note: save the copy of avast_clear.exe so it can be reused as some users are reporting that after running it, it is self-deleting.
