Setup folder size

Windows XP
Program Version: 8.0.1504
Virus Definition Version: 140109-0

I have been using Avast for quite sometime. The setup folder in Avast shows 1.54 GB. Is there any way to cleanup? i M ain the process of upgrading it to Avast 9. I need some disk space and trying to find out how to perform cleanup of Avast setup folder.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
TKR

My setup folder is in the region of 175MB, so what are the stand out files ?
e.g. largest size, repetitive files of a very similar name or file type, .mdmp

Have you been getting any avast errors displayed ?

I’m not wanting to interfere with DavidR’s fact finding but the best way to upgrade would be a clean install by using the removal tool, clean installs have less troubles especially when upgrading from different versions and this will also solve the bloated 1.54 GB install you have now.

After the upgrade it became to 1GB. The majority of them are DLD and VPX files. See below.

The .vpx files are expected, but .dld… my guess is they could be interrupted downloads (also they are quite old, judging from the timestamps).
I’m not saying I’m familiar with the installer internals, but I would delete those DLD files (disabling self-defense may be needed to do that).
