I just installed Avast Anti-virus Free and get the notification that shields are down. I tried to turn them on in every way I could find in the software When I turn all the sliders on, they show on but as soon as I close the window they all switch to off. Any help would be appreciated. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and running the app as administrator. No help. Chuck
What do you see if you Right Click on the Avast tray icon and Select ‘Avast Shield Control’ it should say what the state is and give options.
Is this where you have been trying to enable them ?
DavidR. Yes I have tried this method. It shows all shields down and gives me the option to turn them on. When I click on that it will not turn them on. I also try using the sliders in the interface under Protection, Core Shields. The sliders work and go to green but as soon as I navigate away from that screen they are back off. I also continuously get the notification that I am not protected. Chuck
I’m not sure if this isn’t connected to your still using windows 7 (as in your other topic).
Given the error mentioned in that topic and resolution of that may also impact on this issue. The reason I say this is, I’m not sure if Avast didn’t completely install.
It is a very long time since I have used windows 7, at that time I guess outdated drivers are unlikely to have been a driver.
