short question about email shield

hi

may i ask a question about email shield

to let avast work with thunderbird , is a MUST disable thuderbird ssl or tls ?

is the only way to let them work?

thanks
cheers

SSL / TLS has nothing to do with the thunderbird mail program …it has to do with your mail account settings

so if you have a mail account that is using SSL, like Gmail / Yahoo mail then you must use the correct setup if you want avast to scan the mail from those accounts

Transport Layer Security (TLS) and its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), are cryptographic protocols that provide communication security over the Internet.

yes thanks
but i read in some posts that i should disable in thunderbird to let avast work

Yes that is needed for avast to be able to scan the emails, but avast does handle the secure connection if it is required, so you aren’t losing out on that.

If you have mail accounts that use SSL/TLS settings then you find the how to user guide here

Or another thread addressing specifically Thunderbird and Gmail at http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=76915.0 .

How do you know he uses GMail…??

thanks a lot really!

thanks a lot
yes i have a gmail account too

cheer

ut disabling SSL/TLS does compromise the thunderbird ↔ email provider safety connection !

What does “ut” mean…??? (ut dictum…??)
Anyway, nothing gets compromised, as avast! does the encryption instead of the mail client.

What does "ut" mean
hmmmmm.....guessing here.... ut = but..... maybe ;D

Guess you’re right…!
My mistake to think that mantra would speak latin. ;D

No it doesn’t as I said avast takes care of the secure connection.

yes sorry but , a typo error
