Short Scan Time on Video Files?

Doing manual scans on 500MB+ video files (avi, mp4, mkv, flv, etc) is pretty much instantaneous, which I’ve always found a bit disconcerting.

  1. is there a reason why these files take almost no time to scan?

  2. is there a size limit to files avast will scan?

Avast is just fast to scan  I scan nearly 45Gb in 3 minutes 8)

I sort of anticipated that response…

But when other (similarly sized) filetypes are scanned, it takes significantly longer.

So again:

  1. is there a reason why these files take almost no time to scan?

  2. is there a size limit to files avast will scan?

It all depends on the content of the file being scanned, there’s not much to a video file.

The only size issue I’ve ever noticed is when avast is required to unpack a compressed file that is very large/huge
