Hi everyone! I do have Avast 8 and all the latest updates/definitions/etc, and it’s from the main page avast.com. I have the free AV edition. Should I keep the Avast 8? Or should I get the Avast AV 2014, and run that as my primary AV? If its recommended to go for the Avast 2014. 1.) where could I download it from? 2.) Should I completely uninstall Avast 8, then install Avast 2014? Thank you!
avast 2014 is not released yet … you have to wait until … 2014. 
2014 is still currently in beta and as such should not be used unless you know what you are doing as it can have some unexpected results.

2)I can recommend to uninstall it with the uninstall tool cause they made major changes. Otherwise it could end with problems.
