Should I worry?

After a thorough scan for viruses I had the following result: A number of files were unable to be scanned because they were password protected. There was approximately 41 files. I will list some these below
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\checkbox1.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\default.skn
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\defbtn.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\arrow1.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\bck1.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\bt11.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\glyph1.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\main.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\preview.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\spritel.bmp
· C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware SE Personal\Skins\Ad-aware SE Default .ask\tab1.bmp
I don’t know if I should be worried or not. What I see now is that whenever I scan my computer I will face the same result again and again. Is there anything I could possibly do? Or is it something beyond concern?
I would like to thank everyone who will help me in advance.

Hi RV01 don’t be worry lavasoft protect adaware even the skins so it’s quite normal avast! doesn’t scan them

RV01, which version of avast are you using?
Which is your virus database date? You can find these informations under the ‘About’ dialog (right click the ‘a’ blue icon)

I thought this was already solved… ::slight_smile:

Technical,

No, it is not solved. I have the latest 4.1.501 release (not the 4.5 Beta) and my scan will still show all Lavasoft files as the user mentioned.

Will this be cured in 4.5? You know me…no beta.

Sorry, I mess two different things. :-[
The files are password protected. There isn’t anything to be solved. 8)
Like GYL said, this is perfectly normal and it’s ok in version 4.5 Beta 8)

Hence there’s no problem if I encounter the same result again and again. This is the conclusion so far
Thanks a lot

Yes. Not to worry. I wonder if there is any way to have Avast “bypass” Lavasoft files?

Just add to exclusion list ;D

Ah yes!

Such a simple question and such a simple answer…

and I am simple minded! ;D
Too much flying and no sleep. ;D

Hence I will exclude the files. It’s so easy :-*Thanks again a lot

If you add them to the exclusion list, they will still show up at the end of the scan as not scanned. But this time it will say because they are on your exclusion list. At least that is my experience after excluding certain files from being scanned.

It depends on your Report settings… Try to remove all options except Infected files and you won’t see them again

Oh, thanks…thats a good tip!

Tipton

Ok, where are these report settings?? Are they what shows in my screenshot? I don’t even have Avast set up to do a report, yet it shows those Ad-Aware files, and the files I have on my exclusion list.

Tipton

I think that settings will change the message box (report) that appears after a scanning… Sorry.
If not, it’s a good idea to have a report (txt file) of the scanning and there, for sure, you can set which files will be listed…

Setting up a report from the screen I show above, does not have any affect on what is shown on the screen that appears after a scan. I still get shown the Ad-Aware files, and the files on my exclusion list. It did however create a report in my Avast data folder which did not contain excluded files because I left them un-checked.
