first of all this issue looks very strange and there must be something corrupted the browser data as we cannot reproduce it on our side. We would not release the product with this serious bug.
I recommend the following:
Go to Apps and features in Windows
Find Avast Secure Browser and click Uninstall
Uninstaller screen should offer you “Repair” option
Make sure you keep browser data (there is a checkbox for this)
Try search after this repair installation.
If it did not help to solve it, do the same as above but before you start, please backup the user data folder on your own by going to: C:\Users\Interplanetary-2\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data
this folder contains your bookmarks and other data.
copy the whole folder elsewhere for example to c:\backup
please skip this back up and also next steps if you don’t need to keep any browsing data, like bookmarks, passwords etc…
Btw. There is an alternative way how to backup your data. You can sign in browser Sync if you are not yet. In browser settings please Sign in to Sync and finish the process of data synchronization to our servers.
Once you have your data backed up, perform repair install as described above but choose DON’T KEEP user data.
Try if this helped. If so, you can go to c:\backup and copy some of the files to your new browser data: C:\Users\Interplanetary-2\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data
you can for example copy “Bookmarks” file to recover your data
please don’t copy all content, only choose Bookmarks, History, Login Data etc files that are located in your Profile 1 folder (This folder is not in the new user data, please copy it to Default folder)

I have some news. We found the issue. There is a scenario when creating new user profile as part of Browser Sync. The browser crashes on searching. Soon we will share steps to avoid the issue. Sorry for inconvenience.
