Hi!
My father got a virus warning
Sign of Win32:Malware-gen in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\E_FBA6FCE.DLL
And chose to delete the file. Now the Epson SX410 he bought a few months back give an error after he logs on:
Status Monitor 3 has stopped working on Epson D92 printer
He used the drivers that came on CD with the printer. Is this a false positive or can a resident virus be working in the background? I will uninstall and reinstall latest drivers from epson website.
specs:
Epson S410
Epson Color Printing System version 6.60
Version7.5.7NO under uninstall dialogue box
Norwegian OS and software
The file was deleted but a similar file E_FBAPFCE.DLL is version 5.15.0.0
First ensure that you have the latest VPS update on your fathers computer as there were some Epson drivers picked up recently that were FPs and they were corrected. So that should be the first task you do or it could possibly alert when you try to reinstall the drivers.
You are probably realising that deletion isn’t really a good first option (you have none left), ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate. Here it is possible to restore files if required. So you have to tell your father to use the chest as the first option.
