Simple Adblock Version?

How effective is this for IE 8…is it similar to AdBlock for FF or just a hogger/ IE bloater?

Thanks!

I use it:
http://download.cnet.com/Simple-Adblock/3000-12512_4-10973467.html

It has limitations

The filters are generic and are maintained so they will block effectively for most webpages. However as the filters are generic there will be websites where the adblocking will not work. Especially because the EasyList filter is optimized mainly towards websides in english.

The HOSTS file that I use provides better protection.

Not bad at all improves browsing… thanks YoKenny…HOST file is heard to be a IE bloater/hogger… slows browsing?

I’ve been using Simple Adblock since last year and I see no problem with it. It works as advertised.

Can you give us a site to “test” it?

This is one of my Wife’s sites:

http://www.dailymail.com/

You’ll notice a LARGE drop-down ad plus smaller ads W/O Simple Adblock. With it, The ads are gone.

Thanks Mark.
I’ve tested with IE (without addons) and IE (with Simple Adblock).
The results are amazing!
Anyway, there is room to improve to an updatable list like AdBlock for Firefox.

You’re Welcome.

The HOSTS file does not use IE.

I use HostMan to manage my HOSTS file that uses hpHosts and MVPS HOSTS files as input plus I use HostsServer as a browser speedup proxy with its logging capability to show the HOSTS file’s effect:

YoKenny is there a uninstaller for HOSTMAN & is it compatible with Adblock?

Regards!

Yes and yes.

Thanks YoKenny…you indeed are a big star at their forums too…hope it isn’t more of a headache vs. protection…e.g. read posts like flushing DNS…is there a installation sticky for newbie for HOSTMAN?

Regards!

I’m not sure what you mean by “installation sticky” ???

Do you mean how to use it?
