I am getting issues when trying to connect to numerous websites, including the web site for my school:
“Safari can’t open the page xxx because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection.”
This started happening when I installed the anti- virus and web shield, which is required by my school’s policy. It appears that Avast is interfering with browsing and it happens across different browsers.
I may have to switch to a different product if I can’t remedy this problem.

I recently bought a new iMac and the number of problems where increasing
Several applications not working, like Apple Maps
Huge problems with gmail, asking all the time to reenter the password
Spend a couple of hours with Apple assistance and still have have the problem
Finally I had the idea to uninstall Avast and switch to another antivirus
Everything is working fine now
So bye bye for ever Avast
May I ask the website to test here?
Also does this happen if you disable the web shield?
I discovered the problem, I disabled “Scan secured connections” in my web shield preferences and the problem went away. Hopefully this works for others!
