Site Advisor

Whats happened to SA, didn’t it used to be an add on.It seems to be a full blown program now.Anyone else installed this recently.Cheers

Hmmm… seems an addon yet…

Before, it installed like an add on,now you save the download, when installed it appears in add/remove programs

I see… but doesn’t it work like a firefox addon? Maybe the installer just add an entry in the add/remove for further removing… just speculating because I do not use SiteAdvisor (anymore).

I guess it is done because SA is not for FF but for IE too.

Could I ask why you say “anymore” and what do you use - if you use - instead?

I’ve used in the past.
First it was acquired by McAfee (if I’m not wrong).
Then McAfee Site Advisor was messed with privacy concerns.
Then was the competition… WOT, Scandoo and, for me, Finjan.
I think two web links scanners is too much. I’ve dropped Site Advisor and Finjan and kept only WOT as I use, mostly, Firefox.

I personally totally uninstalled McAfee’s SiteAdvisor.
It was slowing down the browsers (IE and FF) and in some cases caused the browser (IE)
to not load at all.
Removing it, solved the IE problem. FF was never known for fast starts.
If you want fast browser starts, Get SRWare Iron.

I’m gona fire up the old PIII and see what SRWare Iron is about.

I guess the My X is better than your Y plus Z is Zbest fanboys never graduated from My Dad is better than Your dad NaNa

Here I am using Google Chrome and I can’t figure out were SRWare Iron is nor how to install it.

It is so much slower than Opera 10 and it does weird things like jumping to spots where I don’t want to go.

I’m using it now.

Just another browser.

So what is the big deal?

I much prefer Opera 10

I used Opera 10 to post this and modified modified it with it.

Browsers have always been a user choice except when there is a security risk in one of them.
