I want to block a specific website. Avast offers me this help:
Site blocking
On this page you can enter the URLs of any websites that should be blocked so that they cannot be viewed in your browser. This feature can be used to block access to sites that you do not want children or other users to be able to access, e.g. sites that contain adult content.
I have tried looking for it in the AntiVirus program in the section “Spam Protection” area where this tool is supposed to be but I haven’t been able to find it. Where is it?
Well if it’s except for certain sites then it’s not the entire internet, if you wish to type in every site you dont want into site blocking you can otherwise use your firewall to block the internet or the parental control feature of windows to filter out site’s not suitable for children.
See: Net Nanny Internet Filter Software for Your Home
Have Complete Parental Control http://www.netnanny.com
or K9 Web Protection is a free Internet filter and parental control software for your home Windows or Mac computer. K9 puts YOU in control of the Internet so you can protect your kids. http://www1.k9webprotection.com
Why install another program, when Avast emerged as a convenient tool for blocking sites?
Besides, I’ve tried so many of these programs - some do not work as they should, others I did not like.
I would like all the same block through Avast Free.
K9 support for windows Internet Explorer and Firefox.
How about Opera and others browsers?
Well avast isnt a childs parental watchdog it’s an antivirus program so your only option is to use another program like YoKenny suggested or you can also block non child friendly programs with WOT which works with firefox, internet explorer, google chrome, opera, and safari. http://www.mywot.com/en/download
