hp laptop with avast, spybot immunize, advanced windows care, comodo fiewall, windows defender’I remove a bunch of adware and fortuntely not major spyware installed however we now find that we cannot conntect to htpps sites or navigate within sites
example we can log onto bank.com but are not allowed to go to billpay.bank.com
or if we go to Investments.com we cannot navigate within that page- noe of the buttons work
any ideas
TECH could awc have anything to do with this
no hosts file except spybot
using ie
I added name of bank to ie trusted sites but that did not do it
Is there a script blocker activated somewhere?
I turned off cookie protection in ie but same results

Hmmm… maybe because it runs immunization. Maybe you can remove its immunization (security protection is called)
Could also be a false positive from Spybot at hosts ???

I looked at the hosts file and see nothing funny there

Not uninstall, just disable that protection specifically and test.

Answer was to REMOVE BANK address from windows Trusted Sites!
Brother called the Bank tech support line, they have so many servers and redirects that IE gets confused
does not make sense to me but - whatever works
another interesting happening- different xp computer
updated AWC and ran a scan
noticed all 3 categories of Malware protection were blank
Next boot I could not open ANY programs- got a You are not authorized message
could not get to control panel or USERS-- nowhere
luckily windows Restore worked from Safe Mode
all I can think of is that the Administrator account got set to limited
right now both accounts are set to administrator the way they were earlier
I had changed the second one to limited last week
I never put anything in the Trusted site other than windows update and on this new system I have even failed to do that and I have no problems with windows update either. Though I tend to allow the Auto update to check and report and I select which updates to download and install, so technically I’m not directly visiting window update.
There really shouldn’t be a reason to place anything in the trusted sites and I would say especially for banks as that lowers the security level and I would say for on-line banking you want the highest level of security.

I think my brother put BANK in trusted sites due to navigation problems
al least he got it fixed
