Slow bootup problem!!!

Dear Forum,

Aside from the first thought of ‘throw away ZA Pro’, can anybody please provide some insight in to my problem?

I realise this isn’t the ZA forum, I have already posted this on their forum. However the expert advice provided by the friendly experts on this forum is second to none!

So here goes…

My ZA Pro is taking a while to fully load now.

  • I installed ZA Pro 9.1.008.000 on 21/10/2009 without any problem
  • Seems to have been running fine on my computer for the first week

Problem is now that after I enter my user password at the Window$ login screen, ZA Pro takes a long while sometimes to load.

The grey ‘Z’ appears in the task bar. Then there is a lot of hard-disk activity and instead of the usual two ‘flickers’ of the ‘Z’ when it changes from ‘GUI is up initialising’ to ‘ZA Pro’ when you hover the cursor, it takes a loooooooooong time.

Sometimes a grey box even appears which says something like ‘ZA Pro is loading and this box will close when it is finished’.

At the end it appears to have loaded correctly. However I am a little concerned at this recent ‘delayed startup’ development.

I am running Window$ XP Pro SP3 (fully patched), ZA 9.1.008.000, Avast Pro 4.8.1356, MBAM 1.41 (paid version - resident protection module active), Firefox 3.5.4.

Thanks!!!

You forget CPU type and speed and amount of RAM.

Intel Pentium 1.86 GHz, 1.0 GB Ram.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling ZA Pro ?

Hi CharleyO,

Yes that was the first thing I did. Full uninstall, cleaned the registry of all entries as well as every single ZA file on the computer.

Reinstalled without any issue. Please note this problem happens intermittently.

Would be interested in any further insights!

Thanks,

Place it in your signature.

My old XP Home system was 2.4GHZ with 512MB RAM and it became too slow for me.
I sold it to a person that had a Win98 system because they could not get their new Lexmark printer to work with it.

Try without ZoneAlarm for a while.
