Hi All, ever since I installed avast my computer seems to be running much slower. I did have AVG loaded as well but I just removed that and still have a slow computer. I do have a couple of spy ware programs loaded as well. I would welcome any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
??? w8 w8 w8…u have avg and avast running at the same time??u must never run 2AV at the same time coz they conflict…also it would be gd if u inform us about ur system(ram,os etc.) 
i use avast,comodo firewall pro and spywareblaster and my pc is ok…i have 1gb ram and 2.4ghz proccessor…i use antispyware programs only for on demand scans…
AVG antivirus? or AVG antispyware?
Did you remove AVG only ‘after’ installing avast?
Are you using XP or Vista?

I have had similar probs. Have an old Win98 gold. Wound up having to set up a system to clean/defrag registry, malware/virus, clean cache’s, and defrag.
Once I go through that setup, (and othersones too) I then have a faster puter, so far as dialup goes (which I can live with but it is slow).
Its a bunch of trouble, but it can be done and once its set up, it works. I use all free progs except one and don’t know if I need that one now either.
Anyway, if you want the free progs and the setup system, I can email the info to you if you would like.
Please know, that if you have been uninstalling/deleting progs, the chances are very great that you have registry probs. That could be the main prob. People make a dash for malware/virus cleanup, but a bad registry slows your puter too.
And defraging is always important. Firefox is another answer–A LOT less malware affects your puter. Maware is sort of entrapped by Firefox.
