Boot up time has slowed down by about 10 minutes on my Windows Vista system after the 2014.9.0.2010 update to Avast. It seems to me that shutdown is also much slower also.
10 minutes sounds absurd. This is always or only the first boot after installing? It might have been a boot time scan, if you have a no-GUI boot this can seem like a very slow boot.
Anyhow you should probably try out the latest version (2014.9.0.2011). Rather than updating I’d suggest performing a clean install (reboot in safe-mode → avastclear.exe → reboot → install 9.0.2011) as a pre-emptive way to prevent/solve a lot of problems that might be causing this. Many vague problems have been solved with a clean install.
hello,
not 10 minutes for me but at least 2 minutes (this is long) on my Winxp … only sometime , I do not really know the trigger .
However , this occurred with all 2014 news versions , even with 9.0.2011 (already 2 times).
