Smartphones: Android overtakes Symbian, Apple loses market share

http://www.h-online.com/open/news/item/Smartphones-Android-overtakes-Symbian-Apple-loses-market-share-1181349.html

no idea if this was already mentioned in this thread: applications have the ability to harvest private contact lists on iPhone/iPod and Android devices. There’s no protection, no prompt, nothing. You get prompts for geo-localization, push notification, but nothing for the private contact list. I’ll blame Apple and Google in the first place for this, for not implementing the protection, and that would be easy. The issue has been raised for years now, with no effect.

IE9 sucks and multi-tasking has already been done (and probably better than WP7) by the Palm (now HP) WebOS.

Sorry MS. I just really REALLY like WebOS. If they could just throw RDP in there, I’d be set.

All these so called smart phones and apps aren’t all that clever after all, basic security is lagging well behind the technology. This is a major reason why I still have a Dumb old phone, Samsung G600.

I agree David, but my “dumb” phone died so I was forced to go with a smartphone. So now I test them and learn all the security flaws and lack of privacy issues that go along with them. Of course there are ways to get around some of the privacy issues, if you know enough about them you can do some tweaking, but technology needs to catch up and in the meantime is putting us at great risk.
