Anyone have this problem?
My workaround has been to create custom scans which run to completion fine. But I’m probably missing things.
Have you tried a ‘Repair’ of your Avast installation?
How to repair Avast: https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204
I had not.
And, I did.
Now it’s stuck at 80% instead of 82%
- Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version…?
- OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
- Other security related software installed…?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?
Try again, that’s the VPS.

18.7.2354 (build 18.7.4041.389
- Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
- Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
- Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
why download free 1st when I’m just going to uninstall it in step 2?
happy to do it, but wanted to make sure
You’ll be downloading the latest version. Then you’re going to totally remove the old version
and lastly, you’ll be installing the new version. Repair & Clean Install https://goo.gl/t7aJGq
that worked
it does spend a lot of time around 80% but then finishes.

A “Clean Install” has resolved your issue.

Thanks for the feedback.
well…
Sensitive Data Shield (which I’ve never run before) told me I had an issue, so I ran the scan
stuck at 98% for 20 minutes so far…
Ignore it, that’s just an ad for the paid versions.
