… how did I get it as I haven’t downloaded any freeware so far as I know.
Hi,
Let’s check that if you will.
Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (
http://www.mcshield.net/personal/magna86/Images/FRST_canned.png
) by Farbar and save it to your desktop.
Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
[*]Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Press Scan button.
[*]It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
[*]The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
Thank you for your interest.
I think I might have got rid of it by doing Firefox Reset. Interested in what you have though, looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi ColinWB,
Logs show me that you have been run Zoek tool and preform some actions.
Have you thought that it is not worth mentioning? Where and what kind of script did you run (which wasn’t written for you)?
Please post me here zoek logs located at C:\
Btw, posted FRST logs doesn’t show the presence of active malware nor some kind of PUP (as adware or bad browser extensions …)
Just delete this file and Firefox should process the removal by itself but if you do the Firefox reset that file should be gone.

I’ve got a Zoek and a Zoek backup but cannot drag or copy/paste either to this reply. The Backup has a number of files in it. Is this what you mean? What is Zoek ? Is it malicious?
The Smiley toolbar has disappeared so presumably all is well.
Many Thanks.
Zoek is a diagnostic tool used by certified malware removal experts to remove specific malware in infected systems. Use by untrained users is not recommended. Running Zoek will produce a log containing malware found and requires a script to be written and inserted within it to actually remove malware found. Possible damage to the operating system can occur when the wrong objects are removed by the untrained user.
Log file for Zoek can be found at the root of the drive: (C:)
[EDIT:] Use the “Attachments and other options” link to attach the Zoek log in your next reply. No need to copy/paste the log.
I have reset Firefox; I do not have the file on the C Drive that Magna 86 highlighted. All appears well. Many thanks
