Hello. I have a Motorola Droid RAZR Android version 4.0.4 rooted with Safestrap and running Eclipse build 1.4
I installed Avast, gave root permission and tried to build a no call group. It is letting any number from that group call my phone, and not generating a call log. Any ideas?
Hi,
how did you enter numbers to the group? How is the group set up exactly?
Filip
From the Avast menu, I selected SMS and Call filter, Create New Group, Group Members, Add a new group member, chose from call log, and selected numbers. I entered them manually as “custom number” when it didn’t work the first time around, and it still didn’t work. Block Incoming SMS and Call are both gray, as is Block outgoing Call. Time is set from 12:00am to 11:59 pm.
To block incoming calls, Block Incoming: Call should be Selected (Black with the little orange arrow). Also, each day that you want this block to be active needs to be selected.
Perhaps this would be a little clearer if it was presented with check boxes.
Yes… I believe a little better clarity on how that list is set up and activated would be in order. I am not a total techie geek, but now a slouch either. I did after all manage to set up my own root and custom ROM. Hahah… anyhow, thanks for the info. I actually started using another program that has worked nicely called Mr. Number. I’d like to have it all in one program rather than two. THANKS MrRAlan
I like the all-in-one approach myself. I’m pro-avast and have been for many, many years now. Their Call Filter is almost on par with the best call blockers in Google Play. Not too many people are aware of this and therefore, you don’t see it discussed when people ask about or search for call blockers. There are just a few more enhancements it needs in my opinion. One of those is the ablity to prevent a blocked call from going to voicemail.
Like the original poster, I have also selected SMS and Call filter, Create New Group, Group Members, Add a new group member, chose from call log, and selected numbers. I also manually input numbers when the calls still came through. I have all the appropriate boxes marked black with the orange triangle, and calls STILL come through. The log shows that the call was blocked, but I assure you it wasn’t. This call “filter” is utterly useless.
Hi,
unfortunately this is one of the features that depend on device and/or ROM manufacturer. We have already encountered ROMs for which the filter needed to be tweaked in order to work. If you tell me what device, OS version (and possibly a custom ROM) you are using OR point me to a call filtering app you are using, I might be able to figure out what the problem is.
