Hello,
Just recently my messaging app started showing the SMS Commands received by the phone, both in stock messaging and HandCent SMS.
I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling, to no avial. I even tried three different handsets, unfortunately with the same result.
I hope this is not an intentional change in the app - this issue is a significant security flaw.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I’m having the same issue with my MyTouch 4G. Every SMS command I send to the phone pops up in the SMS client with the default notification sound with all data being requested.
we already contacted the handcent team about this issue, its incompatibility due to an update they did.
What about those of us who don’t use Handcent? What’s the fix? Please reference my original post in this thread.
most of the sms apps are implemented correctly and cause no issue. its only handcent and gosms that we know of at the moment.
today or tomorrow a new anti-theft update will go out which will notify you if an incompatible SMS program is installed.
update 1999 has just been released and it fixes this problem (shows notification).

There is a solution to this problem with handcent.
Open Handcent → Settings → Application settings → Default Messaging application → Disable
Works fine for me, and i have anymore the popup, and all the functionalities that i had !

Just a quick query here, but does this Patch detect ‘Post Installation’ of GOSMS/HANSCENT applications?.
possible happenings; Thief/Child acquires phone. Downloads and installs one of the said applications above.
possible solution; disallow installation of named applications without password… protect AT’s stealth… until resolution found.
