I just recently download and installed avast on my parents PC. I was told about avast! from a friend that swore by it. Well, it certainly did help as the computer was slammed hard by malware that would let it barely function. I am now getting two dialog boxes that pop up when the computer boots.
It tells me the following files are not installed (gives me the typical windows install path)
sneras.dll
ugehibw.dll
Is this more malware that I should be looking for and removing?
hello And Welcome to the avast Web Forum’s.
i would like to say scan your computer with MBAM http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php download it and remember to check for updates than scan your computer after the scan is complete post the log here please and the others will help you after that
It isn’t more malware, but some redundant registry entries remaining after cleaning out the files. These registry keys are trying to run the files on boot and because the files aren’t there you get the error message.
Run MBAM and see if it can find the redundant registry keys.
That isn’t unusual in fact it is very common as many file names are randomly generated, so you don’t get any matching hits on a search, which up to a point makes getting rid of them harder.
