I bought this product thinking it would protect me from viruses and other unfortunate incidences. I have had this product for 2 weeks now. Then there was this update to 7.0.1473 and my computer wouldn’t even boot.
I am very disappointed in AVAST. Thanks for taking my money and doing nothing for me (in fact you caused my problems). I will blog about this now.
You can complain about it all you want but you could also help the developers by posting as much information about this problem as you can since you’re not the only one with this issue.
Complain as much as I want? I was stating that this thing of a software doesn’t work. How is this complaining? You know, not everyone is well versed in these things and I did my best to describe my problem (already in another thread, but without even an answer). Also, I know how to resolve problems another way. I will simply go to my bank on Monday and refund the money I paid, since this product isn’t working. (European law).
Thanks for your understanding.
what AV did you use before installing avast?
did you uninstall it before installing avast?
did you use the vendors removal tool to clear any leftover files that may conflict?
Hello,
I would send them an e-mail instead of posting here because in my experience you’ll get a quicker and more direct response that way since you are a paying customer. Fortunately, I have not had such issues on my Windows 7 firewall. Out of curiosity are you using other anti-viruses or anti-malware programs? Maybe, there was a conflict?
However, I do feel your pain and I’m sure they’re looking into this right now. For me, my computer works fine but like many others Avast Web rep has suddenly disappeared on Mozilla ever since the update.
I am also experiencing the same problem:

Standard advice (i.e. not just for avast!) when it comes to program updates. No need to be in the front line if you’re not engaged in battle. I have only 5 users on 7.0.1473 (thankfully no issues) and many still with 7.0.1426.
If you’ve paid, go to http://support.avast.com/index.php?languageid=1&group=eng within the 30-day refund period, and report the problem to get personal attention.
