In the “Software Updater” all I continually see is “Preparing” in the status after clicking on “Update” for the “VLC Media Player” that is listed in the “Software Updater” function.
I’ve tried “refresh” but this changes nothing, the status remains “Preparing” and has been for over ½ hours as of now.
Any ideas?
Should I just ignore this “Preparing” status assuming the “status” on this Update will eventually change?
Addendum: Finally got an “ERROR” status, now trying to “Update” again.
Repair Avast:
Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > uninstall a program > select avast! and click " Uninstall/Change ". Choose " Repair " and “Continue”. Reboot when finished.
Also just go to http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html and install new version. I like to update programs by myself and not automatically by a third program.
An easier way to fix this issue is (without repairing):
avast! UI > Software Updater > Settings (bottom right corner) > Database reset (troubleshooting) > Reset Database now.
This fixes the issue without the need of a repair.
