Software Updater

It’s showing Java is up to date but it’s not. I installed the latest version for both the 32 bit and 64 bit last evening.

It’s also showing I have Google Chrome installed which I don’t.

How can I switch back to Avast Version 7?

Wouldn’t it be easier just to uninstall the Software Updater module ??? have you had Chrome installed in the past ? I’d bet avast still thinks you have it installed because it wasn’t fully removed :-\

On a side note, why do you need both 32 and 64 bit Java-do you run applications that require both versions ?

I just uninstalled the Software Updater. Yes, I’ve had Chrome installed but it’s been awhile. How do I fully remove it?

I have IE 32 and 64 bit.

You would have to run a search through your system in Program Data, Program Files and Program Files (x86) and even Users/App Data for Google Chrome or Google.

If you have performed the recent Windows 7 platform update then you should now only have the 64 bit IE installed ( the 32 bit is still there but not used ), the 32 bit Java would only be needed if you have a certain application that requires it eg " Kindle Reader "

If you don’t have any applications that require it or a specific website that needs it then it is best to uninstall Java altogether, personally I don’t know of any website that needs it these days so if you need it for an application then you should disable it from the browser via the Java control Panel/Security.

How do I uninstall the “Software Updater”?

The same way you would to remove any of the avast features, go to uninstall avast and when you get the popup screen choose change and you will be given the ability to remove or add features.

Thank you very much, I did it with no problems

Intriguing mine just updated ITunes for me

Same here. 8)

Concerning Java, I don’t even have Java Runtime Environment on my laptop since the reformat.

Clearing the Software Updater database in the Avast! settings might also resolve this, if you wish to continue using the Software Updater feature.

This is also posted in the wrong board.
