Hi, I’ve been using the free version for nearly a month and was thinking of upgrading but ran into this when I was running WinDirStat to free up some space. I have 5GB of .mdmp files nearly all of which are over 250MB each.
Surely this isn’t normal, if it is are they safe to delete?
Running x64 Windows 8.

Looks like these are Mini Dumps. Do you have Debug Protocolling activated?
If you are not encountering any problems you can delete these.

No idea what Debug Protocol is but something must be wrong, a day later and the size of the logs are now 6.74GB.

Try this
Controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall > repair option … Wait a minute and reboot
Does it still continue?

I’ve done as you suggested.
After 10 minutes I have another ~250MB .mdmp file and a crash log:

last suggestion, try a clean reinstall…
