[solved] Avast won't disable Windows Defender.....

Hi
… I read we MUST NOT use more than one AV. Avast won’t disable Windows Defender as some products do for others Windows native features, eg firewall.

Should we disable Windows Defender? Why Avast doesn’t do it for us?

Thank you

What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?

Vista 32 home SP2 - Avast Free release 11.1.2241 published today 2015/10/03

Because on Vista WD is not a full grown AV (like in W8 and above). But I’d disable it anyway.

Thank you man

You’re welcome.

Vastra,

providing details when asking something/or if you want help really can make a difference

On a side note, I see you have avast 2015.
Version 2016 has been released.
You may want to update to that.

Sorry man, I even didn’t think it could have been OS/Avast release related: I was too much puzzled by nearly one week fighting to have Avast working

The one I have is the last install trial I did with avastsetuponline.exe : I thought it was the latest… or is 2016 a beta? In the lap time I saw the Avast web site was fully updated.

I don’t understand you Eddy
Why do you say I have Avast 2015? I have the one in your link.

or is 2016 a beta?
The link gives you the answer.

Maybe I learned to read before you were born so I may have forget. But sincerely, I’m training every day.
Your link title is NEW: AVAST 2016 (2016.11.1.2241) when my second post in this thread states I use 11.1.2241
.
Please admit I can think it’s the same, more when I said I installed with avastsetuponline.exe yesterday.

That’s why I don’t understand what you say. The point is that I’m afraid to break this install again. I feel I don’t want to read the whole mystery thread when no one even tried to reply to my own

You’re already on the latest build, nothing to worry.

Thank you man, I’d rather like this answer (I feel less stupid).

Have a nice day

You’re welcome.
