[SOLVED] Cannot install any PPC PDA version - SGH-i900 (Samsung Omnia)

Hi,

I just got my Samsung Omnia i900 phone and I have tried to install a couple different versions of the PDA release with no luck
Everytime I try the phone tells me that the application is not a valid Pocket PC application.

I have tried all of the following with the same result:

avast4ppc_wm6_setup
avast4ppc_2005_setup
avast4ppc_2002_setup
avast4ppc_arm_setup

According to the phone this is what I am running:

Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
CE OS 5.2.20270 (Build 20270.1.3.1)
Processor: ARM920T PXA312

I’m about to purchase the family pack as I have really liked the Avast software.
I want to also the PDA version but am reluctant to do so until I know it will work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Z.

Won’t it be avast4ppc_wm6_setup ? Did you try?

Yep I did. I still get the error “application is not a valid Pocket PC application”

Not sure because it’s Windows Mobile 6.1 professional if that has anything to do with it?

I’m reluctant to use the phone for web browsing etc until I’m comfortable it’s protected.

If this doesn’t work - is there an alternative to Avast for the PDA?

avast4ppc_arm_setup is the second tentative…

Yep. I tried all of the following with the same result:

avast4ppc_wm6_setup
avast4ppc_2005_setup
avast4ppc_2002_setup
avast4ppc_arm_setup

Nothing works. Same error complaining about not being a valid PPC application.

Ok so in my infinite wisdom I was trying to run the exe directly on the PDA.

I’ve since learned I needed to run it on my PC and install over active sync.

I have now successfully installed the wm6 version of the avast PDA software.

Thanks for all the help!

Z.

Zerro, your patience won
