[SOLVED] Disk Doctor keeps asking for reboot

Hello,

After running Disk Doctor, as there were some problems on C:, it asked for a reboot to fix it.
After the reboot DD asked again for a reboot.
I did it once, and it asked again.

I could check in the Windows logs that everything was fixed after the first reboot (it is after all a chkdsk that is performed).
Therefore I suspect a little bug in this new plugin…

(I also tried relaunching the analysis, but the warning did not go away.)

Hi,

thanks for the report, this is definitely not the intended behavior.

In order to be able to help you I would like to ask you to send the log files so we can investigate where the problem is.
You can simply send them by executing our log collector utility from this path C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\Avast Cleanup\tulogcollector.exe assuming that you have still Avast Cleanup installed on your computer.
Just please add your email address there so we can join the logs with your report here.

Thank you.

Hi Stellarman,

Done!

And FYI, same problem on my laptop, on C: and D:.

I just noticed that the problem only occurred on SSD.

  • In my desktop, C: is an SSD and all other disks are HDD.
  • In my laptop, C: and D: are two partitions on an unique SSD.

Thank you very much for such a prompt reaction!

Also the information regarding the SSD might be helpful so thanks for that as well.

We will take a look it and I will keep you updated about the progress.

Could you please PM me the email address you entered into the Log Collector so I can track down your logs on our server?

Thank you!

Same issue on my C (SSD) drive. Disk Doctor just keeps asking me to reboot my computer.

Am having same problem but on HDD drive C partition , while Drive D partition shows everything is ok.

I’have the same problem

any update for this issue???..

This morning was my first experience with Disk Doctor. As others have posted my external drive worked. C drive kept asking me to restart. Several hours later I opened Avast Cleaner and tried Disk Doctor again. After the restart my C drive passed and I guess I’m good to go.

Hello everyone,

could you please add information about your operating system?
There is an assumption that this problem is replicable on Windows 10.

We are still trying to find our the root cause of the problem.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

thank you for you patience, it took us a while to figure it out.

It is funny that this issue is caused by a bug in our own AV which blocks executing checkdisk during the boot phase.
This bug was fixed in the latest version so all you need to do is update your AV to latest version (19.4.3089) and then perform the restart again to complete the checkdisk procedure which will fix you drive.

Please let me know if the problem persists or if you don’t have Avast or AVG AV installed on the same machine.

Thank you for the cooperation!

The problem does not seem to be solved, when using Avast Internet Security (ver. 19.4.2374 - version 19.4.4318.451).

I guess an update should be on the way…

Hi,

I am still having this issue. Could you please help me.

Thanks

Hello everyone,

if the problem persists even after update of AV to the latest version we would need logs from your PC to be able to investigate what happened there.

You can simply send them by executing our log collector utility from this path C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\Avast Cleanup\tulogcollector.exe assuming that you have still Avast Cleanup installed on your computer.
Just please add your email address there so we can join the logs with your report here.

Thank you.

What about those, like me, who use the last version of AIS?

See my previous message :
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=226561.msg1502276#msg1502276

The issue we’ve identified on AV side was already fixed in version 19.4 for all variants of Avast.
So if it didn’t work for you, we would need to send logs to check why your Disk Doctor keeps asking for reboot because we are not able to induce the issue in our environment anymore.

Thank you.

Hello I have the same problem. Avast asks me to restart constantly to fix the ssd. Who and where do I send the logs? Thanks in advance for the help

Dear Disk Doctor
I give a full scan to my computer but there must still be a virus.

What it does it ask me (if I click on a shortcut) repeatedly if I want to delete it. Also, it deletes files.

I tried also to custom scan but it tries to delete other files and downloads.

I use Avast free antivirus.
What should I do?

Patrick
