Solved: Just would like a computer check up

HI Eddy while I was trying to find the boot menu to my computer I ran into a menu where it had restart to Windows Vista for more advanced options push F8 and Windows Dignostic memory tool so I ran the memory tool when it got done running it said that it would produce a report when I logged back into windows but their was no such report but while it was scanning it said that it did not find any problems. I just wanted to now Eddy is memtest the same tool as above.

Thanks.

You will need to enter the BIOS in order to change the bootsequence.
That has nothing to do with the windows version.
How you can enter it depends on the system.
Mostly it is by pressing del, right after powering up the system.

HI earlier yesterday I download who crashed and installed it on my computer. Today however when I exited Google chrome today my computer did a blue screen and when my computer logged back in and I went to whocrashed and when it was loaded I clicked on the mindump tab in who crashed and their was no log of my blue screen in the minidumps. I also did a search for minidumps and went to the minidump folder but again their was no blue screen minidump in their. So is their something I have to set up in who crashed first in order for it to record a blue screen.

Thanks

HI Eddy I must say that you must think that I am an advanced user I must tell you that I am not an advanced user at all. I did find the boot menu but I am having a problem or issue or frustration what ever you want to call it when I got to the boot menu I scrolled over to the boot menu and then it comes up with 1. Removable media, 2. Hard drive, 3. CdR cd rom. So I went into cd rom and from their I have no idea what to put in the spaces I found out how to make the cursor go up and down on the page. If you cannot give me some help Eddy could you please give me to somone else who can help me with this issue I do not now how to do this I have never had to play around with the boot sequence before so I am new to this.
Please help Eddy
Thanks.

Eddy will help you out. Please wait for him to come back on.

HI I was wondering if I could ask a question. When Memtest is done does it save a log somewhere or does a log come up for me to save when memtest is don scanning my computer.

Thanks

Ps: Do I have to change anything in Memtest or do I just leave things the way they are.

Thanks very much Eddy

As MemTest runs off of the CD when you choose to boot your system with it for a memory test, all testing data is run in system memory only. So, the only way to see whether your memory is good or not is to run the program by using the CD. Windows is not running when MemTest is running. Windows does not even know MemTest is running, in fact, when you are running it. (MemTest runs outside of Windows)

No data is written to your hard drive, so no log will be produced.

[EDIT:] Don’t change any settings within MemTest. Leave them the way they are.

See attached picture below as to what to expect:

Any memory errors found will show up as bright red letters at the bottom of the blue screen. You can’t miss these errors when they show up. Allow the MemTest Program to run overnight. It will report it has done ‘X’ number of passes. If no errors are found, you can assume with reasonable certainty that your memory is good, and it is not bad or defective memory that is causing your blue screens.

HI Mchain thanks for the reply and help as always

Thanks

So what I would like to now Eddy what can I do to possibly solve this issue. Thanks Eddy
